The invitations for King Charles’ coronation have not been sent out — but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will definitely be on the list, royal sources have told Page Six.
Sources told People magazine last week that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have yet to be invited to the ceremony, but one royal insider told us: “It’s still very early days, no one has been invited yet!”
Another source confirmed to The Post on Monday that the guest list has yet to be finalized, therefore no invites have been sent out.
Charles will officially be crowned monarch on May 6 at Westminster Abbey, alongside his wife, Queen Consort Camilla.
Page Six has repeatedly been told that the Sussexes will be invited, despite their fractious relationship with the royal family, which is said to be particularly tense in the wake of Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” and the couple’s Netflix show, “Harry & Meghan.”
There has been chatter in the UK that Harry may travel alone from California for the coronation, but the royal insider confirmed Monday: “Everyone is expecting Harry and Meghan, Charles wants them both there.”
The date also coincides with their son Archie’s 4th birthday.
Last week, a source close to Harry, 38, and Markle 41, told People that an invitation to the ceremony, which will be attended by a host of world leaders, has yet to be extended and that there has been no movement toward reconciliation.
In an interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby to promote his book last month, Harry said of the coronation, “There’s a lot that can happen between now and then. But, you know, the door is always open. The ball is in their court. There’s a lot to be discussed, and I really hope that they are willing to sit down and talk about it.”
The royal family has stayed silent since the Sussexes’ media blitz.
Royal author Robert Lacey told People, “There have been some very grave disagreements between them.
“But the Platinum Jubilee and the funerals of the Queen and Prince Philip did demonstrate that they could put personal enmity aside for the sake of the bigger cause. And that is what the coronation will be all about.”
Last week, Charles offered an apparently unintentionally humorous response when asked whether his estranged son would be welcomed back into the royal fold.
The monarch, 74, was meeting with students at the University of East London on Wednesday when one fan brazenly asked the burning question: “Can you bring back Harry?”
“Who?” Charles responded.
According to the Daily Mirror, it appeared the king actually didn’t hear the complete question — and his reply was not intended to sass his son.
Once he realized what the fan had actually said, Charles gave a short laugh before quickly moving on.
